The Letter W
W is for witch

W is for Watermelon

Witch Projects
Foot Print Witch
Paint one foot green and press onto paper.  When dry add details with permanent markers.

Craft Stick Witch
Glue 7 green craft sticks together.  Cut out black hat from craft foam.  Cut out a colored strip for the hat.  Cut chenille stems in half (2 for each witch).  Draw on facial features.  
Directions:  Glue on hair, hat and eyes

Hand Print Witch
Paint one hand green and press onto white paper.  Let dry.  Draw hat, nose, mouth hair and broom.  Glue on two googly eyes.

Green Witch Homemade Play Dough
We made our own play dough and dyed it green.  I covered old Play-Doh containers with green paper, made a simple, cone shaped witches hat, glued on eyes, nose and drew a mouth!

I cut out the different shapes for the witch - I traced their hands .  They followed my directions to put the witch together.  Then they counted the circles, triangles, and rectangles and filled in the appropriate blanks.

S is for Spider

Spider Projects
Spider Hand Prints
Paint both hands black - do not paint the thumbs.  Press hands onto paper one hand at a time overlapping the palms.  When dry, glue on two googly eyes.

Clothespin Spiders
Cut a circle from black, craft foam.
Directions:  Paint 8 clothespins silver - or use glitter, Glue multiple googly eyes onto the circle craft foam.  When the clothespins are dry, clip them onto the circle to make the spider's 8 legs.

Spider Suckers
Take two black chenille stems and cut each stem in half, so you have 4 pieces for each sucker. Align the 4 chenille stem pieces and place a sucker in the center. Wrap 1 side of the chenille stems  all the way around the sucker's stick.  Pull tight.  Bend the ends to make feet.  Use glue to attach googly eyes.

Mummy and Monster Projects
Hand Print Monster
Paint both hands and press onto a piece of construction paper, overlapping the thumbs.  When dry, glue on triangle teeth and googly eyes!

Big Green "Frankenstein" Monsters
Cut out a rounded corner, rectangle shape for the head, black hair, black mouth, 2 black bolts, two long, rectangle strips for the legs (accordion fold the legs), black boots.
Directions:  Glue the hair, mouth and bolts to the Monster's head, Glue the accordion folded legs to the back of the head and glue on the boots.  Glue on two googly eyes and draw 2 scars on the Monster's face with black marker.

Coffee Filter Monster
Cut out 3 circle eyes from craft foam - or use different sized googly eyes.  Cut out a black mouth and white, sharp teeth.
Directions:  Paint a coffee filter with watercolor paint and let dry.  When dry, glue the painted coffee filter onto construction paper.  Glue on the eyes, mouth and teeth.  Write M is for Monster at the top.

Shaving Cream Mummy
Cut out a mummy shape from black construction paper.  Mix together shaving cream and white glue.  Place the shaving cream/glue mixture into a baggie and cut off an end.
Directions:  Use the baggie as a decorating tool.  Squeeze the baggie to make white strips on the 
mummy.  Glue on googly eyes.

Cardboard Tube Mummy
Wrap a cardboard tube with white strips of gauze or bandages.  Glue on two googly eyes.

The Letter P and Pumpkins!

P is for pumpkin

Pumpkin Projects
Hand Print Pumpkin
Paint one hand orange and press onto paper.  Paint 1 thumb green and press onto the top of the hand print pumpkin to make the stem.

Cut and Paste Pumpkin
Skills:  scissor practice, gluing, letter P
Print out or draw a pumpkin pattern onto white paper.  Cut out small rectangular/square pieces of orange paper and a few brown pieces.
Directions:  Cut out the pumpkin
Glue the pumpkin to a colored piece of construction paper.
Glue the cut pieces of orange paper to the pumpkin.
Glue a couple pieces of cut, brown construction paper for the stem.
Write (or trace) the letter P above the finished pumpkin.

Paper Plate Pumpkin
Cut out the center of a small paper plate.  
Cut two leaves from green felt.  Twist 1/2 of a green chenille stem.  Use the other half to make the hanger for the pumpkin.  Punch a hole in the top of the plate and in the bottom of the leaves.
Directions:  paint the paper plate orange. When dry - string the chenille stems through the punched out holes in the leaves and through the paper plate.  Twist together to make the stem and hanger for the pumpkin plate.

Lego Painted Pumpkin
Cut out pumpkin pattern from white paper.
Directions:  Press a Lego into orange paint and then onto the pumpkin.  Continue until the pumpkin is covered.  Repeat with brown paint for the stem.

Pumpkin Learning Activities
Pumpkin Name Puzzles
Skills:  name writing, name recognition,  gluing
Cut out a pumpkin from orange paper. Draw sections onto the pumpkin and write your child's name.  I wrote Keely's name, but had Joey work on tracing his name.  Cut the sections - or have your child cut the sections.  Lay out the sections in order and then mix them up!  Have your child find each letter in his name and place them in order.  Then glue the puzzle onto another piece of paper.

Pumpkin Letter Matching
Skills:  Upper and Lowercase letter Matching, letter identification
Cut out small pumpkins shapes from orange paper.  Write a matching upper and lowercase letter on each pumpkin.  Cut each pumpkin apart separating the upper and lowercase letters.  
Directions:  Glue the matching  upper and lowercase letters to a piece of paper.

Pumpkin Name Tracing
Skills:  name writing, name identification, gluing
Cut out small, orange pumpkins and write the child's name, so they can trace over each letter.  
Directions:  Trace each letter.  Glue each pumpkin onto a strip of paper to spell out your name.
