Shining Fish!

Project:  Shining Fish!  Cut a fish shape out of construction paper (2 identical fish).   Cut a hole in the middle of the body of the fish and a triangular hole in the tail.  Place one fish onto the sticky side of Con-Tact Paper.  Stick small pieces of colored tissue paper into the holes of the fish.  Cover with the other half of the fish.  Cover with Con-Tact paper and smooth out. 

Materials Needed:  Con-Tact Paper, colored tissue paper, scissors, construction paper

Shining Rainbow!!

 Project:  Shining Rainbow!  Fold a piece of Con-Tact paper in half and cut a rainbow shape, so you end up with two identical rainbows.  Fold a piece of white paper in half and cut a cloud shape, so you end up with two identical clouds.  Remove the backing from one of the rainbow shapes and place sticky side up. Stick the two clouds on the ends of the rainbow.  Rip small pieces of red tissue paper and stick to the top curve of the rainbow.  Repeat with orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.  Remove the backing from the other rainbow and place over the tissue covered rainbow. 
Materials Needed:  Con-Tact paper, red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple tissue paper, scissors, white construction paper

Shining Sun!

It was a rainy day today, so we decided to make suns!  Hopefully, we will see the sun sometime soon. 
Project:  Shining Sun!  Trace a circle onto a folded piece of Contact-Paper, so you end up with two identical circles.  Tear yellow, orange and red tissue paper into pieces and stick to sticky side of one of the circles.  Cut yellow construction paper strips for the sun's rays.  Stick the rays to the sticky side of the tissue paper circle.  Cover with the other Contact-Paper circle.  Hang in the window and enjoy!!!
Materials Needed:  Contact-Paper, red, yellow, orange tissue paper, scissors, yellow construction paper

Mother's Day Vase and Flowers!!


Project:  Mother's Day Vase and Flowers! 
Ty made this lovely vase and flowers for his Mom for Mother's Day :)
Mod Podge a plastic container.  Let dry and tie a ribbon around the top.  For the flowers, trace a flower cookie cutter onto construction paper and cut a slit from one edge to the center and form into a cone shape.  Secure with tape.  Glue a colored pom-pom to the center of the flower.  Tape the flowers to the top of a colored straw.  Cut out a leaf shape for the stem and punch a hole in the middle.  Slide the straw-stem through the hole.  Arrange the straw flowers in the vase!
Materials Needed:  plastic container, paper, Mod Podge, ribbon, construction paper, pom-poms, glue, scissors, tape, colored straws, paintbrush, hole punch

Clothespin-Coffee Filter Butterflies

We have made Coffee Filter Butterflies before, but this time we used clothespins instead of pipe cleaners.  Check out our other Coffee Filter Butterfly from 2009. 
Project:  Clothespin-Coffee Filter Butterflies   Paint a coffee filter with watercolor paints.  Paint a clothespin black and sprinkle with glitter.  Let dry.  Bunch the coffee filter up - starting in the middle and working to the outside.  Secure with the clothespin.
