Reindeer Projects

Clothespin Reindeer

Cut a craft stick in half. Paint 3 clothespins brown and the one half of a craft stick brown.

When dry, assemble the clothespins to make reindeer.

Glue on two googly eyes and a red nose.

Shape and Hand Print Reindeer

Cut out a triangle from brown construction paper.  Trace hands onto brown paper.  Cut out red, circle nose, two white, oval eyes and two, black semi-circle eyes.  Assemble the reindeer!

Cardboard Tube Reindeer

Cut out a red circle nose.  Cut a chenille stem into pieces and assemble.  Glue on the red nose, googly eyes & antlers

Paper Plate Reindeer

Color a paper plate brown.  Assemble the antlers.  Cut out two brown ears from craft foam. Draw on two eyes, mouth and rosy cheeks, add a red, glitter nose.

I made these fun counting activities .  They had to match the number to the matching amount of reindeer.  Then they pressed their ink covered thumbs onto the paper to make the corresponding number of thumbprint reindeer!

Spider Hand Prints

Paint both hands black - do not paint the thumbs.  Press hands onto paper one hand at a time overlapping the palms.  When dry, glue on two googly eyes.

Clothespin Spiders

Cut a circle from black, craft foam.

Directions:  Paint 8 clothespins silver - or use glitter, Glue multiple googly eyes onto the circle craft foam.  When the clothespins are dry, clip them onto the circle to make the spider's 8 legs.

Spider Suckers

Take two black chenille stems and cut each stem in half, so you have 4 pieces for each sucker. Align the 4 chenille stem pieces and place a sucker in the center. Wrap 1 side of the chenille stems  all the way around the sucker's stick.  Pull tight.  Bend the ends to make feet.  Use glue to attach googly eyes.

Caterpillar Patterns

I cut out circles from two different colors of construction paper.

Tana and Joey made the AB pattern and glued the circles onto a half sheet of paper to make the caterpillar.  We added facial features and feet to finish the project.

Plastic Egg Caterpillar

Here is another fun pattern activity.  

I separated plastic Easter eggs (2 colors for each child).

We strung two pipe cleaners through the holes in the plastic eggs.  I secured the ends by twisting the pipe cleaners.  Tana and Joey worked hard to make their AB patterns.  We glued on googly eyes and bent the pipe cleaner to make the caterpillar's antenna.

We used 9 full plastic eggs for each caterpillar.  The end egg is a full egg. the rest of the caterpillar is made from plastic egg halves.

Hand Print Butterfly

Cut out a body for the butterfly from black construction paper.

Glue on googly eyes and pipe cleaner antenna.

Paint both hands red and press onto yellow paper.

Repeat with blue paint.  

When the hand prints are dry, cut around the prints and glue the hand prints to the back of the body to make the butterfly's wings.

Clothespin and Tulle Butterfly
Paint a clothespin - any color
Let dry and then decorate with markers, more paint or foam stickers!
Cut any color tulle to fit for the wings. I had leftover pink tulle that was already cut into smaller pieces!
Cut a pipe cleaner into a 5 inch piece.  Fold it in half.
Open the clothespin and place the tulle inside.  Do the same with the pipe cleaner.

Band Aid Butterflies

Use a square piece of gauze and press a colorful band aid over it to make a butterfly.  Draw on the antenna for each butterfly!

Butterfly Life Cycle

I cut out leaf shapes from green paper

Explain the butterfly life cycle

Glue 4 leaves to a strip of construction paper.

On the first leaf glue on a small bean for the egg

On the 2nd leaf glue on a spiral noodle for the caterpillar

On the 3rd leaf glue on a piece of shell pasta for the chrysalis

on the 4th leaf glue on bow-tie pasta for the butterfly.

I also printed off labels to glue on to each leaf!

I wrote the numbers 1-5 for Tana and Joey's name for Joey!

They glued their butterfly cut-outs to their strips of paper.

Paper Chain Caterpillar

Roll dice to make addition sentences.  Add the numbers together and glue the correct sum (gold pieces) in to the pot

Leprechaun Rainbow Hat

Trace a Leprechaun Hat onto green paper

Cut out a black strip from black construction paper and a yellow buckle from gold paper.  

Cut out strips of blue, green, yellow, orange and red paper

Directions:  Cut out the hat.

Glue on the black strip and yellow buckle.

Flip the hat over and glue on the rainbow strips.  (We glued our strips on the wrong way - as you can see, so make sure when you flip the hat over to start gluing on the right side of the hat!)

Paper Plate Leprechaun
Color a paper plate with a skin tone crayon
Cut a hat from green paper along with a black strip and a yellow buckle
Cut squares of orange tissue paper
Glue the orange squares of tissue paper around the edge of the paper plate
Glue on the hat and accessories to the hat
Draw a face on the leprechaun
Add more tissue paper squares for the beard and hair

Clothespin Pot of Gold
Cut a black pot of gold from craft foam
Cut gold coins from yellow craft foam
Directions:  Paint the clothes pins - red, orange, yellow, green and blue
Let the clothespins dry
Glue the gold coins onto the pot of gold
Stick craft foam letters onto the pot to spell each name.
Clip on the painted clothespins

Muffin Paper Shamrock
These were so easy to make.  Here are the directions!
We used watercolor paint instead food coloring!

Shamrock Paper Plate Hats

Draw a shamrock onto a paper plate

Color or paint both sides of the paper plate

Cut out the middle of the plate and around the shamrock

Cut a black strip of paper and tape it in a loop to the back of the pot
Cut strips from - red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple paper 
Loop the purple strip through the black handle of the pot of gold and staple
Continue with the blue strip, then green . . .  until finished
