Dr. Seuss Fun!

Dr. Seuss
Projects
Thing 1 and Thing 2
Paint 3/4 of a craft stick red
Glue on a turquoise feather
Glue on googly eyes and draw a mouth
Glue the Thing 1 or Thing 2 circle onto the craft stick

Left Foot, Right Foot
I typed up a 1/2 sheet that says
Left foot, Right foot
Feet, Feet, Feet
Oh, how many feet you meet!
Paint the two feet, two different colors and press them onto the paper.

Horton Hand print
I typed up a half sheet of that says:
A Person's a person no matter how small!
Paint a hand grayish blue and press them onto the paper.
When dry draw on the details with black marker.

1 Fish, 2 Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish
Cut out a fish bowl shape out of white paper
Paint one hand red and one hand blue and press them onto the fish bowl.
When dry draw on the facial features

Cat In The Hat Footprint
  
Type and print:
“We looked!
Then we saw him step in on the mat!
We looked!
And we saw him!
The Cat in the Hat!

Paint a foot (starting on the heel) red, white, red, white, red, black
Press foot onto blue construction paper - let dry
Draw on eyes, nose, mouth and whiskers
Glue the quote from The Cat In The Hat  below the footprint

Cat In The Hat Paper Plate
Cut a hat shape out of red paper
Cut three strips out of white paper
Cut a bow tie out of red paper
Directions:  Glue the white strips onto the red hat
Staple the hat and the bow tie to the plate
Draw a face on the paper plate

Green Eggs and Ham Candy!
Melt white chocolate chips in the microwave and stir until smooth
Spread the chips on wax paper (make the melted chips look like eggs)
Place a green M&M on the melted chip mixture

The Lorax 
Trace hands on yellow paper
Cut out the hands, 2 eyes and two yellow eyebrows.  
Glue the hands, eyes and eyebrows to a piece of orange construction paper
Draw on a nose with black paper

Learning Activities
Cat In The Hat Writing Rhyming Words
Skills:  CVC words, writing words, 
I created a page with Cat In The Hat hats on it.  I wrote common vowel consonant word ending on each hat.  I had Addie write a word with the same ending and then come up with and write 2 more words that rhyme.  For example for the at hat- I said write mat.  Then she wrote two more words - hat and cat.

One Fish Two Fish Goldfish Counting
Skills:  Counting, colors, 
I made a counting sheet  and drew in the fish.
I gave Tana a small bowl of Goldfish Crackers and she placed each fish on the sheet in the correct box.  She counted each fish and we talked about how many of each color fish were on her sheet of paper.
