Foot Print Witch

Paint one foot green and press onto paper.  When dry add details with permanent markers.

Craft Stick Witch

Glue 7 green craft sticks together.  Cut out black hat from craft foam.  Cut out a colored strip for the hat.  Cut chenille stems in half (2 for each witch).  Draw on facial features.  

Directions:  Glue on hair, hat and eyes

Hand Print Witch

Paint one hand green and press onto white paper.  Let dry.  Draw hat, nose, mouth hair and broom.  Glue on two googly eyes.

Green Witch Homemade Play Dough

We made our own play dough and dyed it green.  I covered old Play-Doh containers with green paper, made a simple, cone shaped witches hat, glued on eyes, nose and drew a mouth!

I traced and cut out two of each piece.  Tana and Addie cut out some of the pieces too.

We taped a piece of yarn down the middle of each piece and then glued the matching pieces on top to create the apple mobile!

Paper Plate Apple Core!

Cut a paper plate to look like an apple core

Cut out brown stems and green leaves

Directions: 

Pain the top and the bottom of the plate red

Press fingertips into a black ink pad to make the seeds

When dry, staple the stem and leaf to the top of the apple core

Craft Stick Pencil

Paint one tip of a large craft stick pink

Paint the middle yellow

Let dry

Draw the lead with black permanent marker

Use a fine tip permanent marker to write each child's name

 

Name Pencil

Paint 4 small craft sticks yellow

Let dry and glue together

Cut a triangle out of tan craft foam

Glue the triangle to the painted craft sticks

Color in a black tip with black permanent marker

Add foam letters to spell out each child's name



 

Name Crayons

Cut a crayon shape out of colored construction paper.

Use black marker to decorate the crayon.

Draw an oval in the middle of the crayon and write or have the child write his/her name.

Shape Buses

Cut out a yellow bus shape, 3 black squares, 1 long, black rectangle and 2 black circles. (Older children can cut out the bus and shapes by themselves)

On a 5x7 piece of colored construction  paper give the following directions:

Glue the bus on the paper.

Find the 3  squares and glue each square to the top of the bus.

Find the  rectangle and glue it underneath the squares.

Find the 2 circles and glue them to the bus for wheels.

Write your name on the bus.  (For older children)

Cut out a small yellow square, a yellow rectangle - for the bus

Directions:

Glue the yellow rectangle onto the paper

Glue the yellow square in front of the rectangle

Glue the 3 black squares on the top of the bus - for windows

Dip a lid into black paint - we used a glue stick cover - press it on the bottom of the bus 2 times for the wheels. 

Dip your finger into the black paint and press it in the middle of each wheel.

Draw a line under the windows with black marker.

Write your name on the line.  (For younger children you will write the name)

Waterbottle Glo-Bugs

Wrap an empty, plastic water bottle in green construction paper

Secure with tape

Punch 4 holes into the green paper

Wrap chenille stems to make the feet and place them through the holes

Cut wings out from yellow construction paper

Decorate/color the wings

Staple the wings to the green construction paper

Glue on bead eyes or googly eyes

Wrap a chenille stem around the neck of the bottle to form the antenna

Place a Glow Stick inside the bottle

Clothespin Grasshoppers

Paint a clothespin - let dry

Cut 2 - 3 inch pieces and 2 - 6 inch pieces from  floral wire

Hot glue the ends of the 3 inch pieces on the front opening of the clothespin and the 2 6 inch pieces on the back of the clothespin opening

Glue a googly eye on each side of the clothespin

Bend the floral wire to create your grasshopper

Firefly Shake

Math - counting, addition, one-to-one correspondence

I don't remember where I got this activity from - Maybe The Mailbox Magazine ?

I have about a dozen of these Firefly pictures laminated that I keep in an old, clean PB jar along with the directions and dice. 

Directions:  Dump the Firefly pictures out on the floor

Roll the dice

Count the dots on the dice and pick up the same number of fireflies and place them in the jar.

When all of the fireflies are in the jar sing this song -

To the tune of Shoo Fly

Fireflies are fun to see

But now it's time to set them free!

(dump out the Fireflies and start again)

 



I modified this game to make it more difficult by using two dice and adding the numbers!

Pink-Pig Puppet!

This is such a cute, easy project to do with any age.  First paint a large craft stick pink - let dry.  Then glue on googly eyes, a pink button nose and two pink, felt ears.  Draw eyebrows with a black, permanent marker and you are done.  This wonderful idea is borrowed from makeandtakes.com

Craft Stick American Flag

Craft Stick American Flag:  Glue 2 red and 2 natural colored craft sticks to a piece of cardboard.  Cut 2-inch pieces from 3 red craft sticks and 2 natural craft sticks.  Cut 2 1/2-inch sections from 5 blue craft sticks and arrange and glue into an American flag.  Use a paint brush and white paint to add "stars" to the blue craft sticks.  Let dry, and trim off excess cardboard!

Materials Needed:  5 red craft sticks, 4 natural craft sticks, 5 blue craft sticks, paintbrush, white paint, craft glue, cardboard

Craftstick Flowers!

We did this project before when Connor was younger.  These flowers were such a cute a project I wanted Ty and Addie to make them. 
Directions:  Project- Popsicle Stick Flower-  I found this idea in the March 2009 issue of Parents Magazine. Ty and Addie picked out the colors they wanted their Pop-Art flowers to be. They then arranged the sticks in a layered circular pattern. I then helped them glue the sticks together. The green popsicle stick (the stem) goes in the middle of the floral design so the flowers look 3-D!
Materials - 8 colored Popsicle sticks, 1 or 2 green Popsicle sticks for the stem, and glue (either craft glue or hot-glue).

Craft Stick Beaded Christmas Tree!

This is a repost from last year, but I made the tree's again this year with Addie and Ty. Instead of using all long sticks, I cut the sticks so they were staggered - to better resemble a Christmas tree! We also used tri-beads for the ornaments! Addie and Ty had a lot of fun gluing on the beads - they turned out great!!!!
Day 2 of the week - The theme this week is Christmas Trees. The letter of the week is W, w.

Project - Craft Stick Beaded Christmas Tree - Connor and Lauren glued 4 green craft sticks together (1 as the trunk the other 3 as the branches). They glued a foam yellow star on the top of the tree and glued on colored beads for ornaments/lights. I added a piece of ribbon so the tree can be an ornament. Materials Needed - 4 green craft sticks, craft glue, yellow foam star, beads, ribbon

Turkey Puppet!

This is a repost from last year!
Day 3 of the week - The theme this week is Turkeys. The letter of the week is S, s and the number of the week is 17.

Project - Turkey Puppet - I saw this project in the November 2005 issue of Parents Magazine. Connor and Lauren love playing with puppets, so this was a perfect project for them. Directions: Use a 5 1/8 brown circle scallop card, or cut your own from card stock using scalloped scissors - this is what I did. Trace a leaf four or five times onto colored paper (we used dark orange). Cut each leaf out. Add glue, then glitter to the leaves (Connor and Lauren applied the glue with a paint brush, but they left of the stem of each leaf bare for easier gluing. They used a variety of glitter colors) - let dry. Glue leaves to the back of the paper circle with glittered sides facing up. Cut out a wattle and beak. Glue the wattle and beak to the circle and glue on googly eyes. Glue a large craft stick to the back of the circle. Materials needed - dark brown scallop card or card stock, scalloped scissors, dark orange card stock - or any color for the leaves, red card stock, yellow card stock, scissors, glue, paintbrush, large craft stick, colored glitter, googly eyes

Project - Craft Stick Chick - I saw this craft on the site www.allfreecrafts.com/easter/chick-sticks.shtml Directions: paint a large craft stick yellow, let it dry. Glue googly eyes and an orange beak to the front, glue yellow feathers to the back of the painted stick.

Materials Needed - yellow paint, large craft stick, yellow feathers, googly eyes, orange construction paper, glue, paint brush, scissors
