 Apple Sun Catcher

Paint a coffee filter with watercolor paints.  Let dry.  With red construction paper, cut out an apple shape and cut out the middle leaving a border.  Then, glue or tape the painted coffee filter to apple.

Paper Strip Apple

Cut 8-10 strips of red construction paper.  Punch holes on each end.  String green or brown pipe cleaner through the bottom holes of the paper strips.  Secure with tape.  Then, string the pipe cleaner through the top holes of the paper strips.  Spread out the strips as you are stringing.  Add a green leaf with hole punched in it.  Secure with tape.  Curl the pipe cleaner.

Look What's Inside an Apple

I typed and printed up the heading and the poem:

Sing to the tune:  I’m a Little Teapot

I’m a little apple, short and round. I make a munchy, crunchy sound.

If you bite into me you will see – I’m delicious as can be!

Cut out an apple shape.  Dip finger into red paint and press around the outside edge of the apple.  Color the stem brown and leaf green.  Press finger onto a black ink pad and press onto the center of the apple to make seeds.

Hand Print Apple Tree

Paint 1 hand green and press the painted hand onto white paper three times.  Paint a brown tree trunk.  When dry glue on red construction paper apples.  Add a stem and leaf to each apple.

Apple Hand Print Poem

Cut out a red apple and brown stem.  Glue the apple and stem to a piece of white paper.

Type and print out the poem:

This little apple that you just see

Was made for you just from me.

You'll never see one like it in all this land,

Because for a leaf I used my own little hand!

Paint one hand green and press onto the red apple

I cut out an apple shape from red paper and added a leaf stem and white lined paper.  I had Tana practice writing her uppercase and lowercase A's

  

My Apple Book

I created this book to work on number recognition 1-5 and counting.

Seed Counting

I cut out apple shapes and glued them to a piece of construction paper.  I put the numbers 2-5 on the stem's of each apple.  

Tana read each number and used a black ink pad to make the same amount of seeds on the each apple.

Apple Mobile

I had a template for this -from who know where!

I traced and cut out two of each piece.  Tana and Addie cut out some of the pieces too.

We taped a piece of yarn down the middle of each piece and then glued the matching pieces on top to create the apple mobile!

Cut a paper plate to look like an apple core

Cut out brown stems and green leaves

Directions: 

Pain the top and the bottom of the plate red

Press fingertips into a black ink pad to make the seeds

When dry, staple the stem and leaf to the top of the apple core

Name Train

Skills:  name recognition and forming

pasting, counting, square identification, following directions

Print and cut out a train engine (or draw one!)

Cut out different colored construction squares for the boxcars.

Cut a 9x13 piece of construction paper in half

Gather foam letters for each child's name

Directions:

Glue the engine onto a half piece of 9x13 construction paper

Glue the box cars behind the engine - 1 for each letter of your name

Dip a glue stick cover into black paint and press onto each boxcar 2 times (the wheels)

Press your index finger into the paint and press into the middle of each circle.

Make your name - sticking the letters on the boxcars

Cut a brown tree trunk from construction paper

Cut leaves from colored construction paper (enough for the letters in your child's/children's name/s)

Directions:

Glue the tree trunk to a piece of construction paper

Glue the leaves around the tree trunk.

Write your name on the leaves - 1 letter for each leaf.

Glue the poem to the bottom of your tree!

The Letter Aa

 I am teaching Addie the alphabet, so we started with the letter A - since her name starts with A!  I printed off block upper and lowercase A's from the dltk-kids website.  I then printed off apple shapes and cut the apples out.  Addie glued the apples onto the upper and lower case A's.  I cut around the A's and glued them to a piece of red construction paper.

Addie made an Acorn Man for one of her letter A activities.  I traced the template pieces onto brown paper and cut them out.  Addie glued the Acorn man together on yellow paper.

I printed this awesome apple template out and let Addie color it.  I helped her with some of it.  She then glued the awesome apple to a piece of red paper.  (We modified the apple a little bit).  I wrote Addie's Apple Man on the top of the paper and had Addie circle the upper and lowercase A's.

Handprint Apple Tree!!

Project:  Handprint Apple Tree - Cut trunk out of brown paper and glue to white sheet of paper.  Paint hand and press onto paper to make a tree.  Let dry.  Press finger into red paint and press all over the tree to make apples.  Materials Needed:  brown paper, green and red paint, white paper, scissors, glue, paint brush

Apple Print Wreath!

Project:  Apple Print Wreath - Cut an apple in half and dip into either red or green paint.  Press onto white paper.  Let dry.  Cut out prints.  Cut the inner circle out of a paper plate.  Glue the apple prints to the paper plate.  Glue on a ribbon for hanging.  Materials Needed:  apple, knife, red and green paint, white paper, scissors, paper plate, ribbon, glue

Cardboard Tube Apple!

The theme this week is the color red!

Project: Cardboard Tube Apple. I saw this on the blog http://www.notimeforflashcards.com/ Directions: Cut a cardboard tube into sections. Cut another section of the tube as a stem for the apple. Paint the sectioned cardboard tube red and the stem green. Attach the stem either with glue or by cutting a slot in the top and inserting it in the slot. Materials Needed: cardboard tube, red, green paint, glue and or scissors, paintbrush

Connor's and Ty's Apples

Day 3 of the week. The theme this week is Back to School!

Project: Cut and Paste Paper Apples - I found the apple template at http://www.dltk-kids.com/school/crafts.html under back to school. I printed the apple template. Ty and Connor cut red, brown and green pieces out of construction paper and glued the pieces onto their individual apples. When the glue was dry, I cut the apples out. Connor and Ty also added a worm to their apples. Addie got in on the action by coloring her own apple. Materials Needed - apple template, red, green and brown construction paper, scissors, glue stick
