The Letter C

C is for cookie

C is for caterpillar

C is for car

C is for Corn

Paint one hand yellow and press onto white paper.  Paint both hands green and press onto white paper - somewhat overlapping the palms.  When dry cut around the hand prints and glue onto a piece of construction paper to make the hand print corn!

C is for Crayon - letter writing

Fall Projects

Fall Shape Tree

Skills:  shapes, colors, counting, gluing

Cut out a tree trunk from brown construction paper.

Cut out squares, circles, triangles and rectangles from colored paper.

Glue the tree trunk to a piece of construction paper.  Glue on the different shapes (leaves).

Cork Painted Fall Tree

Cut out a brown tree trunk and glue to white paper.  Press a wine cork into red, yellow and orange paint.  Press the cork on the paper to make Fall Leaves!

Leaf Patterns

I cut out leaves from orange, yellow and red construction paper.  

Tana wrote her name on the top and then made her own leaf patterns.

Keely did her own pattern too!

Leaf Scissor Practice

Skills:  scissor practice, name writing

I traced leaf patterns onto construction paper and had Joey and Tana cut out the leaves and glue the leaves to construction paper.  

ABC Fall Family Tree

Skills: scissor practice, writing, letters, patterns, counting, ordinal numbers, addition, most and least

Addie was home sick from school the other day, so we did a fun Fall Project for school.  

I cut out the fall leaves.  Addie wrote the letters of the alphabet on the leaves.  She only wrote the letters that people in our family start with.  Then she wrote each family members name on the corresponding leaves.  I traced Addie's forearm and hand onto brown paper and she cut it out.  Addie glued the tree and leaves onto the paper.  She wrote Addie's ABC Fall Family Tree. (We also added green construction paper for grass)

I had Addie answer questions about her project on the back of the paper.  She counted all of the names, identified the pattern of leaves, Identified ordinal numbers, identified most and least number of names, and did an addition problem

Roll and Say Fall ABC

Skills:  letter recognition

I placed the page on a lid for my cake pan.  Tana and I took turns tossing/rolling an acorn onto the page and then saying the letter the acorn landed on!

Thumbprint Reindeer Ornaments

Paint thumb brown

Press painted thumb onto a small ball ornament

Let dry, add antlers and eyes with permanent marker

Use glue to make a nose and sprinkle red glitter to make Rudolph!

Craft Stick Sled Ornaments

Lay out 5 craft sticks side by side in the shape of a sled

Hot glue 2 more craft sticks across the laid-out craft sticks to create supports

For the slid runners, lay an craft stick on its thin edge so it rests on the supports. 

Hot glue it into place.  Repeat with the last craft stick

Decorate the sled

Attach a chenille stem to the sled for hanging

Reindeer Cookies

Ingredients:  Nutter Butter Cookies, pretzels, chocolate chips red M&M's, frosting

Break pretzels to make the antlers

Use frosting to stick on the antlers, eyes and nose

Beaded Wreath Ornaments

String green beads onto a red pipe cleaner - we used a sparkly red pipe cleaner!

Form into a circle and twist shut

Form a bow with the pipe cleaner ends

Hand and Foot Print Santa's Sleigh

Paint a foot with green paint

Press onto the top corner of a piece of white paper

Paint a hand brown and press on the paper 3 times.

Let dry and draw on the details!

Handprint Snowmen Ornament

Paint hand and press onto a colored glass ball

Let dry and draw on faces, hats and arms!

Pom-Pom Wreath

Glue pom-poms onto a circle shaped piece of tag board

Glue on a red bow.

Extra Large Gingerbread People!

I cut 2 gingerbread figures from large pieces of the brown, packing paper from my

Online Christmas Packages!

I then gave the 2 girls a bunch of supplies and let them go crazy! 

I actually think they were pretty tame with their decorating - but I did have to scrub my floor when they were finished. :)

Skills: math, addition, number writing, counting
I created a document with blank Christmas Trees and easy word problems. 
The word problems involved adding two different colors of balls to each tree and then writing the total on the line.

Our Little Pine Tree

Decorate a foam tree with beads, sequins, gems . . .

Type and print the following poem:

Here’s our little pine tree,
Tall and straight
Let’s find the things
So we can decorate.
First we want to put
A star on top!

The balls don’t drop.

Hang on all the tinsel

Shiny and bright

Put on the canes

And hook them just right.

Finally put some presents

For you and for me.

Cut a candy cane shape out of white paper

Cut red strips

Trace hands on brown construction paper - cut the hands out

Directions: Glue red stripes to the candy cane

Glue the candy cane to a piece of construction paper

Glue the hands/antlers to the candy cane

Glue on a googly eye and a glitter nose

Footprint Butterflies

Paint feet with water color paint

Press onto white paper

Let dry and draw the body and antenna with marker

 * I accidently had the blue butterflies flipped the wrong way when I was drawing the bodies and antenna on each of them.  They are upside down - oops!*
 

Folded Painted Butterflies
Draw a butterfly onto white paper and cut it out
Paint one half of the butterfly
Fold the butterfly in half and press together
Unfold and let dry


Snack Bag Butterflies
Glue pom pom's onto a clothespin
Fill a baggie 3/4 full with some sort of snacks
Divide the filled baggie in half and wrap it with a pipe cleaner
Pinch the clothespin around the pipe cleaner and the filled baggie
Twist the ends of the pipe cleaner to make antenna

Cardboard Tube Butterflies
Cover a cardboard tube with decorative paper
Cut wings out of decorative paper and tape to the back of the tube
Glue on googly eyes
Glue pipe cleaner antenna to the inside, front of the cardboard tube.

 

Sugar Cookie Butterflies

 We divided the dough into 4 balls and added a different color of food coloring to each ball.  We mixed each ball and then combined the 4 balls to make one large ball of dough.  The girls helped me roll out the dough.  They took turns pressing the butterfly cookie cutter into the colorful dough!
