I traced and cut out Easter Bunny Heads from pink and yellow construction paper.

I drew on the facial features

Joey and Tana glued the cut-outs to a strip of construction paper.

Tana wrote her own name and Joey spelled his name while I wrote it!

Easter Egg Number Match

Skills:  number recognition, counting, number order

We did this activity last year too!  This year Tana joined in on the activity.  We have been working on number recognition 1-5 with her.  I had Addie match up the rest of the numbers 6-12.

Directions:

I labeled the top half of each egg with a number (1-12) and the bottom half with dots (1-12)

Projects

 Easter Bunny Countdown Chain

Addie wanted to make a countdown to Easter.  We decided on doing a paper chain countdown.  There are 18 more days until Easter so we needed 18 strips of paper.

Directions:  Cut out 1 inch strips of white paper

Make the strips into loops and staple them to make a countdown chain.

On the top loop, glue on ears and draw a bunny face!

Easter Chick Stamping with Wine Corks

Press a wine cork into yellow paint.

Press the paint covered cork onto white paper

Use a toothpick to draw on the wings/feathers

When dry, draw on the feet, beak and eyes!

Keely using the cork to stamp out her Easter Chicks!

Fingerprint Sheep

Cut out a head and feet from black construction paper.  

Tie a bow from ribbon

Directions:  Glue the head and feet to a 5x7 piece of construction paper.

Dip your pointer finger into white paint and press your painted finger all around the sheep's head.  Glue on googly eyes and the bow.

Hand print Carrots

Cut an orange triangle from construction paper.

Cut squares of orange tissue paper

Paint both hands green and press hands onto green paper, making three hand prints.

Directions:  Glue orange tissue squares onto the triangle.

Cut around the hand prints and glue the hand prints to make the stem for the carrot.

Footprint Bunnies

Trace both feet onto colored construction paper.

Cut out the footprints and glue them onto construction paper.  Overlap the heels.

Glue on googly eyes, button nose and chenille stem whiskers.  

Footprint Carrot and Bunny

Paint 1 foot orange and the other foot pink or blue or whatever color!

Press both feet onto white paper - make sure the orange foot is placed toes up.

When dry add the details

Cut a circle from white paper

Tie a bow with yarn or ribbon

Directions:  Glue the circle onto construction paper.

Glue on googly eyes, a button nose and the ribbon.

Cover a fingertip with white paint and press it onto the paper to make two bunny ears.

Draw on whiskers and a mouth

Cork Reindeer

Cork Reindeer!
Thread a 1 inch piece of gold wire through a red bell and secure into the bottom of a wine cork.  Bend two pieces of 6 inch wire into antlers and push into the top of the wine cork.  Glue on googly eyes.  Cut ears from brown and pink foam and glue onto the sides of the wine cork.  Add a hook for hanging.
Materials Needed:  wine cork, red bell, googly eyes, brown and pink foam, gold wire, scissors, glue, hook

Cork Squirrel!

Day 3 of the week - The theme this week is Fall! The letter of the week is L, l, and the number of the week is 11.
Project - Cork Squirrel. Connor and Lauren stretched a cotton ball out to make the tail for their squirrels. They used brown marker to add color to the tail. Then they glued the tail to the side of their cork. Next, they glued 2 googly eyes, a brown foam circle for the nose ( I used a hole punch to make the nose), and two pointy ears from brown foam (I cut out the ears from the foam). They thought their squirrels looked pretty funny!! Materials Needed - cork, googly eyes, cotton ball, tiny brown foam circle -or tiny brown pom-pom, brown foam, brown marker, scissors and glue.

Dad Picture Magnet and Buoyant Foam Starfish!

Day 3 of our Week - Our themes are Fathers Day and the Ocean.

Foam Dad Magnetic Pictures!

Project - Foam DAD magnetic pictures. I wrote "DAD" in bubble letters on a template and traced it onto foam pieces. I cut "DAD" out along with the insides of the letters. Then Connor, Lauren and I chose pictures to put in the middle of the cut outs. They helped me arrange and glue the pictures. Then I hot glued 2 magnets on the back of the project. Materials needed - Craft foam, scissors, craft glue, magnets, pictures!

Foam Starfish!

Project - Buoyant Starfish. Connor and Lauren love their octopus' from the other day, so they wanted to make another ocean creature. They both chose starfish this time. You can find the template on the website www.FamilyFun.com/magazine I traced the template onto yellow foam. Connor and Lauren glued googly eyes onto the starfish and they drew a smile onto their starfish. Finally, I hot glued a cork to the back. Material needed- yellow craft foam, googly eyes, cork, black permanent marker, hot glue gun.

Buyoant Dolphin

Project - Buoyant Dolphin. Connor made this dolphin earlier this year. It is just like the starfish above and the octopus from the previous post. Again, you can find all of the templates and directions for this neat project on the website www.FamilyFun.com/magazine under Buoyant Buddies. Connor plays with them in the bathtub and they hold up really well!

Foam Octopus'

Day 2 of our week - Our themes this week are oceans, flags, and Father's Day. Today we focused on the ocean theme.
Project - I found this project in the April 2008 edition of Family Fun magazine. They are called Buoyant Buddies! They are made out of foam and corks. Connor made a dolphin earlier this year and Lauren a frog, but since our theme this week is ocean I thought it would be fun to make an ocean creature. Connor and Lauren both chose and octopus as their project, but they could have chosen a starfish, or crab too. I printed off the templates from the website www.FamilyFun.com/magazine I traced the template on foam and cut out the shapes. Then Connor and Lauren used craft glue to glue on the googly eyes and they used a Sharpie pen to draw a mouth. Then I applied hot glue to the foam shape and Connor and Lauren stuck the cork onto the glue. The website shows you where to place the corks. It is a fun project. Connor and Lauren wanted to make more, but I need to get more corks! :) Materials needed- craft foam, googly eyes, cork, permanent marker, hot glue, craft glue.
