Button Spiders and Glitter Spider Web!

The theme this week is Halloween!

Project: Button Spiders and Glitter Spider Web! I was inspired by Addie's shirt today. She is wearing a hand-me-down Halloween shirt from her big brother Connor. The shirt has cute black button spiders sewed , so I decided to have Ty make button spiders. He glued buttons on white card stock and drew eight legs on each spider. Then he drew a line (web) from the top of the paper to each button. Next, I drew a spider web with white glue and Ty sprinkled purple glitter over the spider web. Finally, Ty added two more button spiders to the purple web! Materials Needed: black buttons, black marker, glue, glitter

Button Bookmarks!

Day 3 of the week. The theme this week is Buttons!

Project: Button Bookmarks. Connor and his Aunt Dani had craft time the other day. They decided to make bookmarks. Directions: Cut a 12 inch piece of ribbon and glue two buttons on each end of the ribbon. Add a sequin, sparkly bead or what ever to each side of the buttons! They bookmarks are adorable. Button Magnets!

Day 2 of the week. The theme this week is Buttons!

Project - Button Magnets. Here is a fun and easy project for your preschooler! We glued cut-up pieces of tissue to soup can lids and then applied a thin layer of Mod Podge. Then we took buttons and pressed them on the wet Mod Podge to dry. After the Mod Podge layer was dry we glued a magnet to the back of each lid. Materials Needed - soup can lids, tissue paper, glue stick, Mod Podge, paint brushes, magnets, craft glue, buttons

Button Barrettes!

Day 1 of the week. The theme this week is Things to Wear.

Project - Button Barrettes. I found some old barrettes/clips. Caitlyn and I applied a thin layer of craft glue to the top of each barrette. Caitlyn chose colorful buttons and glued the buttons to the top of the barrettes. The colorful barrette is Caitlyn's and the pink barrette is Addie's. Materials Needed - barrettes, craft glue, buttons

Oatmeal Canister Snowman!

Project - Oatmeal Canister Snowman! Connor and I made a snowman out of our old oatmeal canister, a washed out sour cream container, felt, buttons and glue. I used craft glue to attach white felt around the cylinder oatmeal container. I cut out a circular piece of black felt slightly larger than the cover to the oatmeal container and glued it on top of the cover. I used black felt to cover the sour cream container and glued the container to the circular black cover. Connor added buttons to the snowman and hat. I let him decorate the snowman all by himself - he likes things plain!! He uses his snowman to store things and also has a "winter" decoration. Materials Needed - oatmeal container, sour cream container (washed out), 2 pieces of white and black felt, buttons (various colors and sizes), craft glue.

Model Magic Gingerbread Men!

Day 2 of the week - The theme this week is Christmas Sweets. The letter of the week is X, x.

Project - Model Magic Gingerbread Men - Connor and Lauren rolled out 1 package of Crayola's Model Magic and pressed a gingerbread cookie cutter into the it. I helped Connor and Lauren remove the cookie cutter from the Model Magic. We let the gingerbread cutouts dry overnight. The next day, Connor and Lauren painted their gingerbread men brown and added buttons and sequins to complete their gingerbread men. Materials Needed - 1 package of Crayola's Model Magic, gingerbread man cookie cutter, rolling pin, brown paint, paint brush, buttons, sequins, beads, ribbon, googly eyes.

Foam Button Christmas Tree!

Day 3 of the week - The theme this week is Christmas Trees. The letter of the week is W, w. Project - Foam Button Christmas Tree - I traced a Christmas tree cookie cutter onto green foam and cut the tree out. Connor and Lauren glued different colored buttons onto the foam tree. I punched a hole into the top of the tree and strung ribbon through the hole to act as a hanger for the tree ornament. Materials Needed - tree cookie cutter, green foam, scissors, buttons, craft glue, hole puncher and ribbon
